As we now have 3 South African QS’s working for us here, we decided to join with them in celebrating their Heritage Day on the 24 th Sept to recognise and celebrate the cultural wealth of their nation. The tradition is to have a Braai (like a BBQ) and speciality meats and food.

We are delighted to have 2 enthusiastic and helpful students of Carlow IT with us this summer for work placement. Daniel O’Reilly and Stev Cullen have joined us for 4 months as part of their Bachelor Honours degree in QS & Construction and Facilities Management course.

Since the end of the country’s latest recession, the construction industry has begun to thrive again, but lessons have been learned from the demise of the Celtic Tiger and one lesson that most have taken on board is the constraints of their budget.

We are delighted to welcome Jurgen Human to our Enniscorthy office all the way from South Africa. He is our 3 rd QS from that continent, and he brings a wealth of expertise and experience. Following on from being awarded a Masters in Quantity Surveying in 2013, Jurgen worked in a very busy QS practice in Durban for the next 7 years.

We'll start you off ~ 37 minutes in where we begin chatting about how McGrath QS has dealt with the pandemic.

When making changes to a dwelling or when constructing a new dwelling it must comply with the current building regulations, when altering the insulation in a dormer part L of the building regulations must be adhered to. Some key points of the building regulations are: the maximum elemental U-value of a pitched roof shall not exceed 0.16 W/M2 K.
