This Summer, McGrath QS have given 3 interns the opportunity to gain valuable practical quantity surveying experience as well as see how a leading niche QS firm works before they undertake their final year’s study.

Every year as part of the Intern Development Programme, Ronan McGrath welcomes interns from Carlow IT (where he studied himself) to give them an opportunity to work with a senior QS and learn as much as they can over the Summer Months.

This programme has been running since 2018 when Patrick Hickey was an intern and stayed on after his Summer work and he is still here today! Every year some interns stay for a while and gain valuable experience before travelling abroad.

This is the first year McGrath QS have taken on 3 interns and the other members of the team are delighted to welcome Eoin Dunbar and Sofiat Alam who are 3 rd year students while Gavin Redmond has just finished 2 nd year.

The role of an intern is to shadow a senior QS and watch and learn but also in assisting the team prepare costs and plans for clients especially in this world of constant change and rising prices. All their work is peer reviewed and there is a big emphasis on attic conversions, extensions as well as valuing houses for insurance premiums.

Already Eoin, Sofiat and Gavin have a made a huge impression and are working with clients out of the 3 offices - Dublin, London as well as Enniscorthy. They are looking forward to joining their international colleagues in Enniscorthy celebrating their Summer BBQ’s while the weather is so favourable.
